Skin Care: 5 Things You’re Doing Wrong

5/14/14

Even if you’re making a conscious effort to take care of your skin, there are often times when we’re missing a crucial step that holds our skin back from ultimate beauty.

Our experts have put together a list of the top five skin care beauty blunders. Are you making any of these skin missteps?

Only Wearing Sunscreen When You Plan to Spend Time Outdoors

Going to the beach or sitting outside at a sporting event prompts most people to layer on the SPF.

But what about all the other days of the year?

Everyday UVA and UVB rays come through windows, clothes and your car’s exterior. In other words, you don’t have to be sitting outside for hours for your skin to be affected.

UV rays cause a whole host of problems including premature aging, discoloration and skin cancer. Today, sunscreens are capable of protecting against both UVA and UVB and should be worn daily on your face, neck, chest, back of the hands and anywhere else skin is exposed.

If you want to add sunscreen to your regimen, check out our VIVITE Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen.

Washing Your Face in the Morning

Most of us wash our face in the evenings to clean off the build up, sweat and makeup of the day, but some people also wash their face again in the morning.

However, the a.m. cleansing isn’t doing your skin any favors and could in fact strip away beneficial oils, moisture and more. Instead of using a cleanser simply splash your face with water before moisturizing in the morning.

Try the VIVITE Replenish Hydrating Cream to freshen your skin in the mornings.

Not Using a Toner

Dermatologists agree that a toner is an excellent follow up to cleansing, and needed in order to remove oil and dead skin that hang on after a wash. Toner also preps the skin so that the products that come next penetrate more deeply.

Today there are many different types of toners that are created to address specific issues such as acne or provide a surge of antioxidants.

Not Drinking Enough Water

Proper hydration is just as important for your skincare routine as cleaning and moisturizing. When you’re hydrated your skin is more elastic and healthy so it can repair itself.

Shoot for a minimum of eight 8oz. glasses of water each day and minimize dehydrators like coffee and salty snacks.

Using Too Many Products

Some products enhance each other, while some cancel each other out. Layering on product after product to cover every little issue could do little more than drain your wallet. When putting together your skin care regimen pay attention to the active ingredients and consider using kits where all the products are developed to work together.

Taking care of your skin is a daily task that’s unique for each person. Get off to a good start by choosing products like VIVITE's Core System or Replenish System that are created to work together and cover all the basics of good, solid skin care.
